There is a pink thread that runs through 125 years of history and continues to this day: the thread of a city that identifies with a team, a colour, an identity. On 1 November 2025, Palermo FC will celebrate 125 years since its foundation, a milestone that belongs to Rosanero fans of every generation and that tells of a deep bond capable of uniting past and present.
This is how Pink Week came about, a week of initiatives and events designed to involve the city, fans, institutions, Club partners, businesses and the entire community in a single grand invitation: to paint Palermo pink. It is a way to unite the most diverse stories in a single trail where every gesture can become a sign of beauty and redemption.
This journey began at the start of the season, when pink became a shared language, first through the presentation of the new Puma 2025/26 Home Kit, the first all-pink kit in Palermo’s history. Immediately afterwards, with the “P-INK IT” campaign, the message became an open invitation to everyone: to “ink” their daily lives in pink, to make a gesture, big or small, capable of improving the lives of the people and places around us. Pink Week is now the natural evolution of this, the moment when that pink thread that links the past and the future intertwines with the stories of those who, every day, choose to believe in the values that the Club represents.
The celebrations kick off on Wednesday 22 October with the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the photographic exhibition “Palermo 125”, organised by Palermo FC with the support of the Municipality of Palermo and curated by the Ruber Contemporanea association. The exhibition will be held in front of the Politeama Garibaldi Theatre in Piazza Ruggero Settimo in Palermo until 23 November. The exhibition is free and open to everyone, fans, citizens and tourists alike, featuring some of the most iconic photos in the history of Palermo and Palermo itself, retracing the evolution of the rosanero passion of the people of Palermo. Between fields that have now disappeared and pioneers who played in shirts and woollen trousers, forgotten teams and festively decorated squares, this is a completely new story with a particular focus on the origins of the Club rather than its sporting evolution. A pink carpet, which is also ideally a timeline, will accompany visitors among the exhibits with captions rich in details and historical and cultural references through some precious photographic finds, some of which are unpublished, from the archives of the Palermo Museum.
Starting from the exhibition opening, some of Palermo’s most symbolic locations will be illuminated in pink for one night. The first will be the Politeama Garibaldi Theatre, in front of the photographic exhibition. From there, the “Pink Spots” initiative will involve other monuments and iconic spaces in the following days, representing the large community of fans who live in Palermo, but also linked in different ways to the history of the Club. A simple but powerful gesture, designed to show, in a luminous form, how the “pink” passion continues to be a bonding force capable of uniting neighbourhoods, generations and the different souls of the city, even those that seem furthest apart. Each of these locations, which will be revealed day by day on Palermo’s social media channels to tell a new episode of this story, will recount a piece of history that once again unites the team, its fans and the city.
The celebrations for the 125th anniversary will continue with the talk ‘Palermo 125 – Una storia rosanero’ (Palermo 125 – A Rosanero History), scheduled for Friday 31 October at 6 p.m. at the Teatro Biondo in Palermo. The event will be co-hosted by journalists Roberto Gueli and Sarah Castellana, who will take the audience on a journey through the history of the rosanero, with the special participation of over forty legends from Palermo’s past. The stage will feature stories, anecdotes, interviews and video clips retracing the most significant moments in the Club’s history, including memories, images and testimonials from those who have worn the rosanero jersey. Tickets to attend the show will be available for purchase on Vivaticket in the coming days. Part of the profits from the event will go to “Palermo in the Community”, the Club’s social initiative aimed at building five-a-side football pitches in the city’s most disadvantaged neighbourhoods.
After the show at the theatre, Legends and partners will gather on the terrace of Rinascente in Piazza San Domenico for an exclusive cocktail party reserved for companies that support the Club: a moment to recognise the valuable strategic contribution of partners, an integral part of Palermo’s growth project. Rinascente has enthusiastically embraced the idea of hosting the event and has also made available its shop windows on Via Roma, which have already been turned into a “museum” as a spin-off of the exhibition in the city centre, with historical photos and a special all-pink set-up.
After dinner, Villa Filippina will light up in pink, providing the setting for the “Palermo 125 – Pink Party“, a big birthday party for the Club and its fans in one of the city’s most charming locations, chosen for its happy historical connection: since the early 1900s, the site of the party has been home to a training ground also used by Palermo footballers. The event, which will also be attended by the rosanero Legends, will be open to the public, who will be able to purchase tickets through a dedicated digital platform. Once again, part of the proceeds from the event will go to “Palermo in the Community”.
Palermo-Pescara, scheduled for 1 November at the Barbera stadium, will therefore be the culmination of the 125th anniversary celebrations, in front of those who live and breathe the pink and those who have preserved it over time. The pre-match will be enriched by an extensive programme of events. At 6 p.m., an exciting ceremony will bring some unforgettable rosanero legends to the Barbera pitch in a setting full of surprises, in addition to a special DJ set by Radio Italia, featuring speaker and DJ Paoletta, one of the leading figures in Italian radio. The match setting will also reveal the banners designed by Palermo’s primary schools, which took part in the “call to action” launched by Palermo at the beginning of October. The children from the participating schools drew their best wishes for Palermo in the form of banners, which will be displayed on the upper balustrade of the stands during the match.
Many realities in the city have decided to celebrate this historic milestone together with Palermo and to fully integrate themselves into the Pink Week initiatives.
Among these, Confcommercio Palermo has provided its support with the “Vetrine Rosa” (Pink Shop Windows) initiative, a unique contest for shops in the city, with the aim of colouring the streets pink, transforming shop windows into a collective sign of identity. The businesses that join the initiative will help to spread the colour and the values it represents, becoming, to all intents and purposes, “Pinkers”, ambassadors of the project in the daily life of the city. Each decorated shop window will be part of a shared story, visible within the Palermo ecosystem, with a dedicated space for promotion. The most beautiful shop window will be rewarded with an exclusive Meet & Greet with the Palermo FC players. The invitation to use pink creatively in shop windows around the time of the Club’s anniversary is open to all businesses.
AMAT Palermo, the municipal public transport company, has also decided to join in with Palermo’s Pink Week with a bus entirely wrapped in pink that will run through the streets of the city centre until 1 November and a special “pink stop” on Via Ruggero Settimo, right in front of the Palermo 125 exhibition, which has been colourfully decorated especially for the occasion and will remain in place until the anniversary. The collaboration between AMAT and Palermo also provides an opportunity to launch a new joint project to promote sustainable mobility: on the occasion of Palermo’s home matches (starting with the anniversary match), AMAT will offer a single ticket at the special price of €1, valid on all urban public transport lines from three hours before kick-off to two hours after the final whistle.
The calendar of celebrations for Palermo FC’s 125th anniversary also includes a collaboration with the University of Palermo, a long-standing partner of the Club, for a day of great cultural and symbolic value: “125 Years of Football and University: two stories, one heritage of Palermo”, scheduled for Wednesday 23 October from 9.30 a.m. to 1.15 p.m. in the Sala Magna of Palazzo Chiaramonte “Steri”. Promoted by the University of Palermo and the University Sports Committee, in collaboration with Palermo FC and the Municipality of Palermo, the initiative offers an interdisciplinary reflection on the relationship between sport, education and local development. Through contributions from scholars from various disciplines, the event aims to highlight the role of football and the university in building the collective identity and cultural heritage of the city. Speakers will include the Mayor of Palermo, Roberto Lagalla, the President of Palermo, Dario Mirri, and several Palermo executives.
In addition, dozens of “pink” activations by Club partners demonstrated spontaneous participation in the celebrations.
