Palermo in the Community

“Palermo in the Community” is Palermo FC’s charity programme dedicated to refurbishing areas of the city by building football pitches, providing young people with safe places to develop new opportunities for growth. This initiative follows in the footsteps of City Football Group’s international commitment, which has already contributed to the creation of over 60 football pitches for local communities around the world. It is all inspired by a fundamental belief: empowering better lives through football.

Over the last two years, thanks to Palermo FC’s season ticket campaign, every Rosanero fan has contributed to the development of the project, transforming their love for the team into real support for the local area. Today more than ever, supporting the Rosanero colours also means supporting people with fewer opportunities, offering many young people a safe place to grow through sport.

Palermo in the Community

FROM THE PAST...

Palermo in the Community is the evolution of Palermo’s charity projects, which since its rebirth in 2019 has focused its efforts and resources on children and young people in need.
In 2020, the Club redeveloped the football pitch at the Falcone School in the ZEN neighbourhood, which is still undergoing routine maintenance today. In 2021, Palermo led the fundraising effort for the renovation of the Peter Pan Nursery in the CEP neighbourhood, which was destroyed by arson. In 2023, proceeds from season ticket donations funded 14 five-year scholarships for disadvantaged teenagers in the Borgo Nuovo neighbourhood. In 2024, thanks to the commitment of the club and its fans, Palermo was the winning city in the BKT “Fattore Campo” competition, which led to the refurbishment of a five-a-side football pitch in the Sperone neighbourhood.

Palermo in the Community

...TO THE FUTURE

The next challenge for Palermo in the Community focuses on the Kalsa neighbourhood, where the Club, in collaboration with the Municipality of Palermo, intends to breathe new life into the Piazza Magione football pitch. A symbolic place, one of the oldest and most iconic in the city, where cultures and stories meet, such as that of judges Falcone and Borsellino, who grew up there. The regeneration project will involve charitable organisations already active in the area, with the common goal of creating value for the young people of the neighbourhood.
