The match between Palermo and Venezia, scheduled for Tuesday 30 September at 8.30pm at the Renzo Barbera stadium, will also be an opportunity to contribute to international initiatives for World Deaf Day and thus inaugurate a new and significant collaboration between Palermo FC and the National Deaf Association.
During the pre-match, artist Giorgina Lo Nardo from Palermo, who lost her hearing at the age of seven, will perform the famous song “Io che amo solo te” in Italian Sign Language (LIS), offering the audience a show of great emotional intensity, with the aim of breaking down barriers against all forms of disability as much as possible and promoting social integration.
Currently studying Communication Interpreting LIS and LISt at La Sapienza University in Rome, Giorgina is a performer who perceives music through vibrations and reinterprets it in signs. Her artistic career has taken her to important stages: from touring with Pinguini Tattici Nucleari to the television programme “Dalla Strada al Palco” hosted by Nek and Bianca Guaccero, where she performed duets with Fiorella Mannoia and Ron, to her participation in last year’s Palermo Pride alongside BigMama. Her story is an example of resilience and passion, demonstrating how every difficulty in life can be transformed into an opportunity to discover and harness unexpected inner strength.
The collaboration between Palermo FC and ENS provides that in all upcoming home matches, the most representative songs, from the anthem “Rosanero amore vero” to Sergio Endrigo’s song that accompanies the teams’ entrance onto the pitch, will be accompanied by their respective interpretations in Italian Sign Language on the stadium’s big screens, allowing deaf people to share the same emotions as the fans present at the Barbera stadium.
In addition, the project will see the organisation of guided tours of the Palermo CFA and the stadium dedicated to the provincial ENS section of Palermo and the permanent presence, at every match, of a delegation from the organisation, with the aim of actively involving the local community and reinforcing the value of inclusion.
