Following the success of the first edition held at the Renzo Barbera against Manchester City, the Anglo-Palermitan Trophy is set to begin a new chapter on the other side of the world. For the second time, the trophy celebrating the global Rosanero family will accompany Palermo FC at an international event of great symbolic significance.

On Friday 7 August at 7:00pm local time, at the Sam Kerr Football Centre in Perth, Filippo Inzaghi’s Palermo will face Melbourne City. A prestigious friendly match that will bring together two clubs belonging to City Football Group and represent one of the most significant moments of the Rosanero’s historic tour of Australia.

The match is part of the “Palermo Goes to Australia” campaign, which will see the Rosanero travel to Australia for the first time in the Club’s history thanks to its participation in “Calcio Italiano”, the international event taking place in Perth in August 2026, where Palermo will also face Juventus in a friendly match. For those planning to travel from Eastern Australia, please find more details here.

The decision to bring the Anglo-Palermitan Trophy to Australia carries special significance due to the strong bond between this land and Sicily, as demonstrated by the many Sicilian communities living across the country. In this context, the friendly match between the Rosanero and Melbourne City becomes an opportunity to celebrate Palermo’s roots and the sense of belonging of a global family that transcends geographical boundaries.

Following last August’s inaugural edition against Manchester City, the second edition of the trophy reaffirms Palermo’s commitment to celebrating its history through international initiatives capable of bringing together tradition and future. The match against Melbourne City further strengthens the relationship between two clubs belonging to the same sporting family and represents an important opportunity for the exchange of knowledge and expertise within the City Football Group. This will be Palermo’s fourth shared sporting experience with a CFG club, following the training camps held in Manchester and Girona, and the friendly match against Lommel.

Information regarding ticket sales and media accreditation for the Anglo-Palermitan Trophy will be communicated at a later date.
